I recently discovered a useful article "Discover 6 Business Process Management Best Practices" by Sally Slack, a business / technology author who specializes in "de-gunking complex topics so the masses can both understand and apply difficult concepts".
The author recognizes 6 best practices:
- Use a phased methodology
- Develop a process documentation guide
- Create a decision matrix
- Simulate, model, and test
- Communicate effectively
- Monitor the processes
